Application for Extension of Maximum Study Period
To: Postgraduate Students (except D.Sc., M.D. and M.Sc. in Research Medicine programmes)
Effective from 1 April 2025, recommendations for extension of students’ maximum study end dates from Graduate Divisions should reach the Graduate School Office (GSO) at least two months before their respective maximum study end dates.
For students whose maximum study end dates are upcoming (i.e., those ending by 31 July 2025) or have already expired, the relevant Graduate Divisions and students will be informed that recommendations for extension of maximum study end dates should reach the GSO by 31 May 2025. Such recommendations will be considered by the Executive Committee of Graduate Council (GCExCo) by circular vote or at its meeting in June or July, whichever is practicable.
Please note students who have not completed all requirements for graduation within the maximum period of study shall be discontinued from studies at the University if no recommendation for extension is received from the Graduate Division. Hence, if students will have exceeded the maximum study period by the time they submit the revised/final version of the thesis/portfolio, they should submit an application to extend the maximum study end date for approval by GCExCo via the Graduate Division.
For enquiries, please contact GSO via the enquiry form. Thank you for your attention.
With best regards,
Graduate School Office
