It is commonplace for philosophy departments to be dominated by scholars from one tradition, or for scholars from different traditions to avoid dialogue with one another. In my PhD studies at CUHK, I have found a true example of the pursuit of wisdom as a common good. I am able to pursue research in Chinese philosophy surrounded by one of the highest concentrations of experts in the world, while enjoying frequent departmental seminars and lively discussion on a wide array of issues in nearly all traditions of contemporary philosophy.

I am forever grateful for this lifechanging opportunity to pursue a PhD at CUHK
It was daunting to start a midlife PhD away from my family during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully, CUHK and its students have provided me with sufficient resources and an intellectually, mentally and socially supportive environment to attain this goal. The multicultural setting at CUHK has no age or gender limits and is an excellent place to pursue a topnotch degree and receive mentorship in professional and academic practice.

I have been constantly heartened by the vitality and energy at the Faculty of Engineering at CUHK.
I first began my journey in the Department of Information Engineering as a summer intern; I would never have thought that I would complete my bachelor’s degree and progress all the way to a doctorate degree in the same department. In addition to the numerous opportunities, including scholarship and exchange nominations, that I was given here, I am incredibly grateful and most humbled for having the precious opportunity to give back my knowledge to my younger fellow academics as a part-time lecturer.
